Description of Opportunity

For 2024–2025, overseas students can apply for scholarships through the GCUB overseas Mobility Program, or GCUB-Mob. This scholarship is open to national applicants who want to study for a master’s or doctorate at affiliated Brazilian universities.

Through partnerships with foreign universities and international organizations, the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) launched this program with the goal of advancing academic, scientific, and cultural ties among its member institutions and university internationalization.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants should meet these requirements:

Applicants should have citizenship of a country with diplomatic relations with BrazilNot holding Brazilian nationalityGood physical and mental healthAbility to finance additional expenses not covered by the scholarshipThey must have applied for a Master’s or Doctoral program (Each applicant can enroll in up to five Master’s or Doctoral programs)Submit graduation diploma for Master’s or Doctoral applicationsAdditional requirements for Doctoral candidates regarding previous degreesTheir application should be in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French.

It should be noted that candidates must be able to cover their own initial costs until the first scholarship payment is made.

University obligations:

In the final phase, the host university sends an acceptance letter to the chosen candidates.An supplemental letter outlining restrictions on patient operations is provided by the Program Coordinator to candidates in the Health Sciences.Medical program candidates are provided with particular guidelines for medical practice, which include duties related to supervision.Applicants received an acceptance letter in electronic format, and GCUB received a copy as well.A tangible copy of the acceptance letter may also be mailed by host universities to the addresses of candidates.

Essential Records

Applicants must use the Online Application Form alone in order to be considered for Master’s or Doctoral scholarships that come with monthly stipends. The necessary files must be uploaded straight into the form in PDF format.

The identity document (passport, national identity document, or citizenship) should be copied and saved in PDF format.Curriculum Vitae (evidence of experience and courses may be asked later; they are not required to be included at the time of application).For candidates seeking a master’s degree: a diploma, a certificate of completion of their undergraduate studies, or an official university statement attesting to their completion of an undergraduate course.Candidates for doctorates should have a diploma or certificate of completion from an undergraduate program, a bachelor’s degree, or, if the doctoral program of their choice calls for it, a master’s degree.

For every study program choice selected, there are two essays:Essay 1: Expectations and interests related to academics; professional expectations and viewpoints regarding going back to one’s home country (limit 1,000 words).Essay 2: Justification of choice, main idea, research issue, definition and defense of the study object, literature review, methodology, schedule, and bibliographical references (no more than 4,000 words each).Proof of a legally binding contract with a higher education institution is required for university teachers.

Procedure for Selection

The evaluation method is divided into three phases: final classification, merit assessment, and document analysis. Academic merit, geographic dispersion, and gender equality are among the evaluation criteria:

Phase 1: Analysis of Document Consistency:

overseen by a university affiliated with GCUB and led by a committee designated by the GCUB Executive Board.examination of the material that was submitted in accordance with the specifications.Submissions that are not timely or comprehensive are eliminated.
Phase 2: Admissibility and Merit Analysis

host universities’ accountability.Selected universities receive proposals from GCUB that have been approved in Phase 1.In an effort to pre-approve applicants, universities evaluate applications based on the materials submitted.Pre-approving four times as many applicants as there are scholarships available is advised for universities.taking academic merit and geographic distribution into account.

Phase 3: Complete Categorization

carried out by an Evaluation Advisory Committee made up of PhD-holding academics from universities connected to GCUB.Based on predetermined criteria, the committee assigns and ranks pre-approved applicants from Phase 2.The Human Development Index, gender equality, course preferences, academic affiliations, and geographic distribution are among the criteria.Requests for reconsideration are not allowed at any point in the application selection procedure.During the selection stages, neither GCUB nor the partner universities provide applicants with any documentation.
Selection Outcomes:

The GCUB website announces the results.Email notifications are sent to the chosen candidates with details on the university, courses, and approval.If a candidate declines the scholarship based on the ranking by the Evaluation Advisory Committee, substitutes are contacted.
